I can’t find my hairdresser. Does this mean they are not qualified?
Not being listed with NZ HAIR doesn’t mean that your stylist isn’t qualified, but being listed means that they ARE qualified. Maybe they don’t know about the register, why not suggest they promote their qualification as part of the reason that clients want to support them!
What qualifications does a hairdresser require to become listed?
Having attained New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing (Level 4 Professional Stylist), National Certificate in Hairdressing (Level 4) or Trade Certificate in Hairdressing or been hairdressing prior to 1968 (Auckland prior to 1973) New Zealand Certificate in Commercial Barbering (Level 3), National Certificate in Barbering (level 4) or a qualification deemed equivalent by HITO.
Can I use your directory to search for a Salon in my area?
We do not list salons but you can search the directory on NZARH page.
How much does it cost to have a hairdresser’s profile in NZ HAIR?
A standard profile is $69 per year; this gets you a registration certificate to display in your workplace. A listing on the site including contact details. You can have an elite listing for $99; this gets you an advertisement for your place of work and a client first-visit voucher.
Does NZ HAIR also include those with a Barbers Qualification?
Yes the hair professional can list the qualifications that they have attained.
Can I advertise my salon or hairdressing services on NZ HAIR?
Yes, if you have an elite listing, you can advertise your salon and any client incentive that you would like to offer. You can also join the NZ Association of Registered Hairdressers, and have a salon listing there and receive business advice, education opportunities and creative outlet through entry to hair and photographic competitions.
